On Sunday Nana & Papa Sheldon left with us to come to stay a week in the Mt. Hood area of Oregon. The boys did great most of the way down. The last hour was hard on Travis and there is nothing like one adult driving with 2 kids by myself for 230 miles over 4 hours. We arrived around 4:30 Sunday evening. We all were a little surprised to find how small the place was. For Mom, Dad and I we were thinking it would be a little bigger since the other places we have stayed have been bigger. The kids and I took the 1 bedroom and Mom & Dad took the sofa bed. We were planning on coming here for Thanksgiving this year however I think there were need to be some change of plans. The whole living area and kitchen is slightly smaller than the boys bedroom. There is no place to store your food other than the refrigerator. The master bedroom is so small it can only fit 1 nightstand by the bed. The pool is so small my car would take it all up… Ok maybe not that small but it might as well be.  It also rest in the trees from the forest. Maybe those could be cut back to help the pool feel like a warmer place. The kids like the park/ play area but it is pea gravel and totally dirty. It is not very safe for little Travis either.

There are some nice things about it, let me see if I can think of them…  Oh yah the Mt. is pretty and there are so many trees (the ones that shade the pool). The ski areas are very close to us. It is about a 15 min. drive. We found a nice Alpine lake yesterday. Bottom line is this not a place to come hang out in the room. You have to go on day hikes, ski, golf or something. The resort is more of a pit stop.

Ok so yesertday we took a drive into Eastern Oregon and went around the Mt. through Dalles and Mt. Hood River and back up the side of the Mt. to our place. The drive was scenic and the kids did great with Nana’s help. We will see what happens today. I don’t know if I can stay here an extra to days by myself and stay sane with the boys but we will see.
